A mutilated body found in Verulam yesterday has been linked to the previous day's discovery of two limbs in the same area. Police spokesman, Captain Thulani Zwane, said the body, believed to be that of a 40-year-old man, was found three kilometres away from where the body parts were discovered.
On Tuesday, police arrested a 48-year-old man after they found the body parts, which were in the early stages of decomposition. The body parts, which police believe were to be used in the making of muti, were found stashed in a plastic bag behind a pit latrine toilet. The suspect, who claimed to be an inyanga, is also a pastor at a Zionist church. He was in his house consulting clients when police arrested and charged him with murder.
Zwane said the deceased was a vagrant who had been staying on the side of the road for 15 years: "Neighbours said they last saw him (the vagrant) on Monday." The suspect will appear in court soon.
