An Atteridgeville metro police warden and her mother have been arrested for possession of stolen goods suspected to have been looted during a hijacking. The warden, 26, was believed to have been involved in a romantic relationship with one of two men arrested in connection with the hijacking, said Pretoria police Inspector Daniel Mavimbela.
"Police searched their house and recovered appliances - which include a Samsung LCD, two fridges worth over R30,000, a washing machine and audio and video equipment worth over R15,000." It was believed the alleged hijacker left the stolen goods at his lover’s house in Atteridgeville. A case of possession of suspected stolen goods was opened and the women are expected to appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court next week.
- In another incident on Friday, police captured a man and a woman for possession of drugs in the Jeffsville informal settlement in Atteridgeville. Police were searching a shack and a man, 26, for drugs, when a woman appeared and then tried to escape with drugs in plastic bags. The 24-year-old woman was captured and drugs with a street value of R5,000 were confiscated. The couple would appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court next week.
